Where Are They Hiding The Truth?
I’m not sure how I became like this.
And I’m not alone.

Like you, I don’t have all the answers.
I’m so full of questions.

And when I’m honest with myself, my questions burst forth, and haunt me.
And one question comes back, again and again, in many forms.

“What’s being hidden from me?”
“What’s really going on?”

I remember when my oldest child was born.
She was, and is, like all children, a miracle, but at the moment of her birth she seemed absolutely helpless.

She had this eternally wise expression on her face (ok, she is a bit of a genius). And, like all other babies, she had no real understanding of the world around her.

But she was born knowing how get our attention, and get the care that she needed to survive.

Many of us live with patterns of thought and feeling that ignite our fears. These patterns begin with habitual thoughts that are negative. We think about how we’ve been hurt before, and we drift into fear and anger. We think about all the things that could go wrong with a situation, or our life, until fear grows within us.

Why Do People Use Fear to Influence You?

Fear and Influence

There are many therapies, techniques, and strategies that we can use to overcome fear.

But if we free ourselves from our big fears, and still have no sense of possibility, no place that we truly want to go to, what will we use our freedom for? Where will we end up going?

I believe that any strategy we use to overcome our fears must go hand-in-hand with reconnecting with, and pursuing, our most personal, powerful, dreams of possibility and greatness.

Is Society Based on Fear?

(There are real dangers in this world, and the emotion of fear can be a useful response to alert us to those dangers. Even then, we have to be willing to look at those fears, and see what action we need to take.

However, there are many fears that we carry with us which do not protect us, but only imprison us. This post focuses on these fears.)

Nothing to Fear But Fear Itself

There are many feelings, actions, and thoughts that we don’t like to talk about.

We pretend they don’t exist.
We act as though mentioning them aloud would take them out of some shadowy, dream world, and make them more real than we can handle.
