I was on vacation with my family last week in the Berkshire Mountains of Massachusetts. In many ways, I’m a simple guy. I like the many simple pleasures that life offers, and I find it easy to enjoy those simple pleasures again and again. Sweet, warm fruit, in a fresh [...] When I was in 8th grade, my Spanish teacher had the class describe (in Spanish) the personalities of each member of the class. When it was my turn to be “identified”, the class put it together in a second: occupado (busy). What was I so busy with in 8th grade? I haven’t a clue. [...] I have a long commute to work. Much of the time is filled with prayer, reading, and writing. I’m strongly inner-focused as I travel; yet I often travel with a smile. The time will pass anyway. Why not enjoy it? I can’t help noticing, though, as I ride the subway part of my journey, how [...] Sometimes I think of old dreams, the things that I wanted when I was much younger, and I wonder what I’ve given up by letting go of those dreams, and what I’ve gained. I’ve been a dreamer my whole life. But it’s only recently that i’ve turned the corner and embraced my dreams. Do you have big dreams–visions of where you want to go that thrill you, and that are filled with passion? Dreams can start out fuzzy and unfinished, but they have to have heart. Maybe like me you’ve been afraid to have powerful dreams, dangerous dreams — dreams that would change you and your own little corner of the world. My dreams may be fearless, but I’m not.
